• Positive: The location of the hotel in the heart of central Madrid and our spacious (by many European standards) and comfortable bedroom retreat with a balcony overlooking Puerto del Sol.The glazed window glass of the balcony doors blocked out the noise from the plaza quite well when we were ready to sleep and shutters plus heavy draperies kept out unwanted light. We also appreciated CNN and BBC news channels in English on the room's TV.
• Negative: The two small halogen ceiling lights over the sink area, which cast shadows rather than illumination for applying makeup.
