Finallly leaving for Salamanca where we stayed at a new, professionally run hotel, of vastly superior quality that was, get this, also listed as a three star hote.

O.k. where should we start here. the noise was ridiculous, and I don't mean just idiots partying. The garbage pickup was every nite at about 3:00 a.m. outside the hotel when if they even cared about their clients they could have moved the bins to the side boulevard area where it wouldn't have ruined everyones sleep. Yes you could close the windows to avoid the noise and use the air conditioning which they advertised they had but was so weak it was essentially useless. The shower door didn't close, the bathtub didn't drain, there was a pee stain on the bidet when we arrived which never got cleaned, the beds were the same ones that were there when they did their "recent renovation" in about 1980, and the cleaning was very poor. For example, when we arrived we all noticed a used bandaid (can't miss it) on the first floor stairwell landing. When we were finally able to leave four days later the BANDAID WAS STILL THERE! Do me a favour and check when you get there because I bet it is still there! Do yourself a favour and go to the Regente or the Europa hotel for basically the same price but a nicer, clean room. The wifi worked but was weak and I would not eat in the restaurant. These owners are fat and sassy because of the location near Gran Via but this place should be avoided if possible. Saw many nice things and had a good time in Madrid but that was while I wasn't in the hotel!

I don't think they pay the cleaning staff much or maybe they don't pay them at all and that's why they don't clean. Front desk people were o.k. and in fact one was very good and friendly. There was no language barrier for us.

If you have to have the windows closed then fix the air conditioning. Just another item that hasn't been touched since their so called "recent renovation". Deal with the garbage issue or warn the clients that they will be jolted out of their sleep every nite.

Three sngle beds that were ancient and I mean ancient. Our son refused to sleep on the third because it was so thrashed so we took turns sharing single beds with two people.

Unfortunately garbage bind cant be taken so long as other business steal them and we cant do much about street noise although we have double glass window. Hôtel en plein coeur du centre ville (donne sur la Gran Via) - Puerta del Sol est à 5 mn à pied pour le quartier branché de la Chueca, il n'y a qu'à traverser la rue.
Les chambres sont assez grandes avec salle de bain.
Hôtel calme, assez bien isolé.
