Situated on Via Balbi, the hotel occupies the top 3 storeys of a late 17th-century aristocratic building, which later became the home of wealthy families belonging to Genoa's merchant class. Because of its central position, the hotel offers the ideal position to explore and enjoy Genoa, its history and sights. In addition to this, Via Balbi is home to several important buildings, including the Museum of the Royal Palace with the Office of the Monuments and Fine Arts Service, several splendid palaces of the ‘Rolli’ system, among which is the Durazzo Pallavicini palace. Inside the hotel there are still signs of its past splendour, including some interesting Baroque frescoes painted on the ceiling of some of the rooms.
